The Pod People of Kips Bay
Calling all non-claustrophobes! These long-awaited micro-housing units in Kips Bay – the subjects of much speculation since, in 2012, former Mayor Bloomberg waived zoning regulations that would require at least 450 feet of living space – are finally accepting applications. Tiny – though not much more so than many other Manhattan spaces – yet reasonably priced, given the application parameters, these housing ‘pods’ could prove to be an interesting experiment in the next phase of the city’s attempts to create affordable housing.
